Knock Sensor: Detects cylinder block vibrations caused by engine knock and sends a signal to the computer to retard ignition timing. Failure Symptoms: Engine knock, loss of power, Malfunction Indicator Lamp is on. Electrical components such as sensors are non-returnable parts. Always refer to a factory service manual when diagnosing engine service problems. You can damage electrical components if the proper procedures are not followed. One of the components that is vital to your car running properly is the knock sensor.
The drastic shocking caused by the following reasons: ignite too early ,the exhaust circulation is bad,the low standard fuel will lead to damaged of the engine. The knock sensor provides knock signal to the computer, which makes the computer re-adjust the ignition timing to prevent further knock. In fact,they play a role in oxygen sensor to feedback control loop ignition timing.
